The look of Joan
New Year’s eve is on its way! To step into 2017 with glamour, why don’t you try the smokey eye effect? Dec 30, 2016 @ 15:13
We’ve asked famous make-up artist and Estée Lauder creative director Tom Pecheux to give us professional secret tips to to create a ‘Paris by night’ look, with the focus on the eyes. “The eyes represent the Parisian woman, it’s her signature” he says.
We loved the feathery smokey eye with the haunting combination of burgundy/pink and gunmetal he created, few seasons ago, for Anthony Vaccarello presentation in Paris. Of course what he did then will be too complicated to reproduce at home, but here are some tips to create a young and fresh smokey-eye look. Depending on your tone skin you can play it totally black as Zoe Saldana or add a little bit of color like Lupita Nyong’o.
For a perfect result you can use smudged Kajal Eyeliner by Estée Lauder all around the eyes that you topped with the gunmetal gray shadow from the Envious Orchid compact by Estée Lauder, wetting the brush to amp up the intensity. To brighten things up a bit, you can define the inner and outer corners with a matte taupe shadow before implementing a pro tip he casually refers to as “cleaning up the edges” — to prevent smears as the night wears on, coat a clean brush with a bit of pressed powder to diffuse the shadow and set it in place.
For a final, full-on effect you can apply layers upon layers of rich, jet-black mascara to upper and lower lash lines for an unapologetically sexy stare.
If you are in a hurry because you spent too much time choosing the perfect outfit. Here is a way to create a simple smoky eye in 3 minutes only!!!
Step 1: Blend a highlighter over lids, lashline to browbone. Stroke eyeliner along upper lashline. Smudge line upward with fingertip.
Step 2: Brush medium/deep eyeshadow over liner. Blend upwards.
Step 3: Apply lash primer
Step 4: Apply mascara.
For the rest of your make-up we recommend the mantra ‘less is more’! A nude lipstick and a nude manicure are highly recommended!
