Cruising In Rio With Nicolas Ghesquière And Louis Vuitton
We already knew that Nicholas Ghesquière was fond of Science Fiction and Architecture. Louis Vuitton‘s artistic director confirmed it was his inspiration when he announced on Monday that he will take over the futuristic Rio de Janeiro’s Niterói Contemporary Art Museum designed by legendary Modernist architect Oscar Niemeyer, to present Louis Vuitton Cruise 2017 collection.
“The setting inspired me right away. . . . It’s about being transported into a relationship where nature, geography, and architecture come together.” he said
Last season Louis Vuitton staged its show in Bob Hope’s John Lautner–designed house in Palm Springs, California, a similarly futurist-minded building. Its main season shows take place in the Fondation Louis Vuitton, a Frank Gehry–designed wonder of glass and steel, often accented by elaborate sets designed by Es Devlin and artist Justin Morin.
