Chanel’s Métiers d’Art 2017, Ritz Paris
This year Chanel celebrates the thirteen years of its craftsmanship shows at Gabrielle Chanel’s home for over 30 years: The Ritz. As many years of workshops of excellence celebrated through exceptional parades paying tribute each year to a different city.
After Rome last year, Salzburg in 2014, Dallas in 2013, Edinburgh in 2012 … The Paris Fashion Show 2016 took place at the Ritz. The opportunity to discover or rediscover the history of Lesage, Desrues, Lemarié, Maison Michel, Massaro, Goossens or Guillet … These eleven houses with exceptional know-how, from embroidery to goldsmithing to lace.
Karl Lagerfeld took over the Ritz today in Paris to stage Chanel’s Métiers d’Arts runway show. Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel, famously made the hotel her home for over 30 years. The second-floor, 2024 sq m suite in which she stayed, that boasts views over the Place Vendôme, bears her name to this day.
The show brought together Parisian influences with a decidedly optimistic spirit—hard to argue against the coral flowers in models’ hair or the bitsy crop tops.
Here, our favorites looks.
